Chrysalis House, Inc. is seeking an Addictions Counselor to coordinate mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment and education for women. Promotes growth and development of clients within the treatment model and philosophy of Chrysalis House.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides individual and group counseling to clients on mental health, addiction and recovery issues.
  • Collects, organizes and analyzes information about clients through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to assess extent of addiction, social, vocational, educational, and psychological problems in order to determine necessary scope of treatment interventions.
  • With client participation, prepares treatment plans outlining treatment goals and activities.
  • Functions as part of the Treatment Team by attending staffing, treatment plan reviews etc., to ensure appropriate clinical interventions and ongoing monitoring of client’s progress
  • Facilitates community service linkage for clients, as defined by client’s individual treatment plan. Makes appropriate referrals for necessary outside services and aftercare programs with the direction and consultation of the Clinical Director and follows up to ensure compliance with referrals.
  • Participates regularly in individual clinical supervision with Clinical Director.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the field. Participates in continuing education as required by license/certification.
  • Assists with supervision and training of counseling interns if assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum education level is a Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience providing substance and/or clinical services.
  • Required to be certified by the State of Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as an ADT, CSC- AD  or CAC-AD
  • Experience conducting needs and risk assessments and have an understanding of crisis management. Previous experience with group counseling and facilitation.
