MISSION: The mission of Chrysalis House Inc.is to provide comprehensive recovery services that empower women to build a better life for themselves and their children.
SUMMARY:
The facilities maintenance specialists is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and suitable working environment for employees and clients while ensuring facilities are clean and clear of hazards both inside and outside of the building. The facilities maintenance specialists will need to be able to attend to multiple facility related concerns involving both workers/clients and their working/living environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the day-to-day operations of facility. Perform building and grounds maintenance internally and coordinate with outside vendors as needed. We currently use contractors for landscaping, lawn care and snow removal. Work to transition these services to be done internally.
- Perform daily inspections of buildings and facilities to identify any issues related to structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other systems. Implement plans for repairs of any deficiencies.
- Create and implement preventive maintenance procedures for maintaining building infrastructure and equipment. Including but not limited to changing HVAC filters, cleaning dryer vents, and maintain company vehicles. Maintain accurate maintenance records of work done.
- Maintain the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots and outdoor recreation spaces.
- Refurbish and renovate existing facilities as needed, which can include carpentry work, drywall repairs, floor tiling and painting.
- Installs, dismantles, and changes tumblers in locks for doors, furniture, pad locks, desk etc. Install and adjust doors, door hinges, and other door related hardware.
- Coordinate office moves in collaboration with Director of Operations
- Monitor systems for performance and functionality, making recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
- Ensure all facilities meet compliance with CARF and local county and government laws and regulations. Perform monthly safety inspections and drills as required by accrediting agencies.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling systems.
- Document procedures, incidents, maintenance activities and keep an inventory of all building components and equipment.
- Addressing emergency issues promptly and coordinating swift responses.
- Will provide maintenance assistant at Chrysalis House Health Start Baltimore location and Supportive Houses in Anne Arundel County as needed.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in building or facilities maintenance.
- Working experience with standard methods, practices and procedures of carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical and HVAC trades and necessary safety precautions.
- Ability to operate and maintain hand and power tools common to the building trades.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite preferred.
- Valid driver’s license
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to provide genuine warmth, empathy, honesty, sensitivity towards clients to help assist in fostering positive transformation by maintaining a supportive availability to provide additional information to candidates to promote admission to the program.
- Must demonstrate understanding of special treatment needs of women substance abusers in a residential treatment setting and show evidence of empathy, sensitivity, and maturity.
- Must demonstrate highest professional ethical standards and adhere to Chrysalis House Core Values and Code of Ethics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Pay: $65,000 - $70,000
